Hypocrisy in Society: Are We Truly Advancing or Just Pretending?

How people treat others based on their status

We call ourselves advanced, but are we really moving forward? We are moving towards decline while trying to call ourselves developed. In our attempt to prove how smart we are, we keep falling behind in morals and values. The standards we have set do not match ethical values or our traditions and uplifts Hypocrisy in Society. We have made outer appearance and showing off the most important things in life.

How Society Judges People Today

We now judge people based on their money, status, appearance, and societal position rather than their character. Many things happen around us that can teach us important lessons, but we fail to notice them.

A Personal Experience That Opened My Eyes

Recently, I observed something interesting. There is a security guard at the entrance of my society who always stands up and salutes those who pass by. I used to think he was a kind person, as he would stand up and salute everyone passing by.

But one day, I passed while riding my bike. He saw me but ignored me completely—he neither greeted me nor stood up.

At first, I thought maybe he didn’t recognize me because I was wearing a helmet. But then I noticed that he treated all bikers the same way. It seemed like he wasn’t saluting the people, he was saluting and greeting the cars they were sitting in. If he truly respected people, it wouldn’t matter whether they were in a car, on a bike, or walking—he would greet everyone equally.

Why Do We Value Status Over Humanity?

Most of us now judge others based on their outer appearance. We fail to see the real qualities that make a person valuable. Humanity is much bigger than just looks and wealth.

This shows how society has changed. We value wealth over humanity. We judge people by what they own, not who they are. Our double standards are growing, and we often fail to reflect on our own actions.

The Harsh Truth: Are We All Hypocrites?

We all point fingers at others, but we never look at ourselves. We have created double standards in society—or maybe, without realizing it, we have all become part of this hypocrisy, we have all become hypocrites.

Final Thoughts

If we want a better society, we must change our thinking. Respect should not be based on wealth, cars, or status—it should be based on humanity. We need to stop being blind to real values and start treating everyone with equal respect.
